Harry Meade
Harry Meade is a British three-day event rider based at Church Farm, Chippenham, near Badminton in Gloucestershire. He is married to Rosie, and they have a daughter Lily, and son Charlie
Along with fellow event riders Alex Hua Tian and William Fox-Pitt he went to Eton College and is the son of Richard Meade, Britain’s most successful male equestrian to date. Harry said, “From the age of about two or three, all I wanted to do was follow in my father’s footsteps and try and get to the top in eventing.” Although not superstitious, Harry rides in his Father’s cross-country colours (white).
In 2004 Harry was shortlisted for the Young Rider European Championships (with Midnight Dazzler) and in 2014 represented Great Britain at the World Equestrian Games in Normandy (WILD LONE).
In December 2019 he was presented with the British Equestrian Federation’s Medal of Honour. In 2014 he won the Event Horse Owner’s Association’s Rider Award, and was named the British Equestrian Writers’ Association Leading Rider and Horse & Hound magazine’s Rider of the Year. He also won the Event Rider’s Association Rider’s Choice Award and Against All Odds Award in the same year.
Harry is a Land Rover Ambassador.
Away Cruising is a 16-year-old Thoroughbred gelding that Harry has been riding for several years. The horse is known for his calm and collected demeanour, even under pressure. He has been a key part of Harry’s success in recent years, and the two have developed a strong partnership.
Harry entered Away Cruising, Cavalier Crystal and Tenareze for Badminton Horse Trials 2023 and Away Cruising, Red Kite, Cavalier Crystal and Tenareze for the Defender Burghley Horse Trials in 2023.
